Quick Access Toolbar gone

Opened up Civil 3D 2014 this morning to find Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) GONE, though all toolbars and ribbons are "locked."

I open the CUI (type CUI at the command line), in the top left window highlight my workspace, in the top right panel click "Customize," in the top left panel click the "+" symbol next to Quick Access Toolbar, and LO! there's a checkmark in the box (see appended image).  Even if I click "Apply" and "OK" at the bottom of the CUI palette, the QAT remains - gone, or invisible, or whatever.  What do I do?

What happens when you click any of the other Workspaces?

Same thing, Dave.  It's as if the QAT were HERE somehow, but hidden by something else.  Each workspace has it checked.
