I've attached a simple dwg in R2012. I created a No Display style for Point Markers and Labels. I also created a No Display point group and a couple of other point groups.
This is how to change the order of the groups
Thank you for the video. I kind of understand what you're talking about now. But what about this created a No Display style for Point Markers and Labels?
I don't understand how the program knows what not to display just by creating a no display point group. I'm assuming the other point groups that you created, you went into it and told it what points to include or exclude to create certain point groups. I understand that you had them moved underneath the Point Group of No display to not show it. But I don't understand why and how the computer knows not to show it anymore. Is this because of the "no display style for point markers and labels?"
You can open the drawing I sent you and look at the Display Styles. They simply have the display turned off in one way or another. Then look at the Point Groups. I set them up simply to include descriptions matching their name.
The video shows how to rearrange the point group list. The point group on top controls and precedent follows as you descend the list. If the No Display group is on top. Nothing will be displayed. If EP-CONC is on top and No Display is directly under it. Only points that start with a description of EP_CONC will be displayed.
This method will also allow you to display points differently depending on which group has precedence (is higher on the list). So if a point is contained in four Point Groups and each group has a different Display style set. Whichever group is on to will control how the points will appear.
I appreciate all of your help. Thank you for taking your time to show me some examples on what to do. I will sit down and just keep grinding on it until I think I have it down pat.
