Quantity summary across multiple dwgs

I'm looking for suggestions on how to compile quantities for cost estimating when the data is scattered across multiple files. Aside from generating quantities for each drawing in seperate .csv files etc., is there some way to pull the data from all the drawings at once into a single summary file?

Ideally it would be with one tool but I don't think QTO can extract quantites from XREF's. I know we can use MAP report queries to extract data to .csv files but it won't work on C3D objects. There is the data extraction tool but I expect it has the same limitations.

I'm wondering if Infrastructure suite has tools for this or can we do it through DWF's?

correct! only primitive. But I think you may be mistaken about the QTO across files? I haven;t looked at it in a while

QTO doesn't seem to recognize anything in XREF's Joe.

Ah, young padawan, you must try again. QTO does recognize through an xref but you must ensure the pay item file is the same in both files:

Excellent. Now, how can one determine what pay item files were used on the drawings?

I guess you deserve some credit for thinking it was possible so here's a check (Kudo):smileywink:

I can't find anything in the help system that states QTO works on XREF's. How did you learn about it Brian?

Another challenge: can we limit the extraction to the extents of clipped XREF's? I can't make that work.

I don't remember where I learned it. Most likely one of my students asked if it could be done and my response was, "I don't know, let's try!"
