Properties Palette Tabs?

Hello all,

Question of curiosity.  The Properties Palette in C3D 2012 has four tabs:  Design, Display, Extended Data, and Object Class.  The Design tab obviously has a lot of valuable information and allows you to edit and manipulate entities within the program.  But do the other tabs really have much value?

OK, it seems that there may be times when the Extended Data tab is of use as you can associate hyperlinks, notes, and documents with an drawing object; so I can buy into that.  Are there folks finding those features to be useful?

Now I don't know about the Display and Object Class tabs.  Whenever I select an item, and happen to check these tabs out, there just doesn't seem to be any useful information.  Perhaps I am not selecting the right types of objects.  If they are not listing any valuable information, why are they so prominent instead of being buried deep somewhere.  Anybody out there got any insight into the usefulness of the two tabs?

Thanks,

OK, yet another interesting topic.  No insight that anyone wants to share with me?

OK, I guess I'll just stick to having fun with the Design tab, and maybe occasionally for kicks I'll see if I can find a use for the Extended Data tab.  The Display and Object tabs I may never visit again!!  Robot wink

I was wondering this too.  I haven't even used the "Extended Data" tab.  Does anyone know how to remove all these tabs and have only the "Design" content show in order to narrow the box and save a little screen real estate?

I think a better question is when is Autodesk going to fix the Palette "Creep" issue where the palettes move out by one pixel every time you open CAD with flyouts open by default?

Object Class, Extended Data, Display.

It looks like the palette is one size fits all depending on what vertical you have and what type of objects are in your drawing. Since Civil 3D does contain a partial version of Map 3D. You might be able to use the Object Class Tab.
