Profile view showing polylines passing through

Hi, I would like to create a number of profile views that show my grading surfaces. However, in this profile view i`d also like to show where polylines in the model cross this profile. For example, if i have a pile of rock as a surface with a building on the top, i'd like to show a profile that has the surface profile of the rock, then 4 dots which would basically be the four corners of the building in a profile view. Is this possible to achieve?

Many thanks

Place points on the four corners and then project them to the profile view.

I've never seen the ability to show points in a profile before. However, if i want to create many profiles along an alignment it will take a long time to place points on each polyline that crosses the profiles. Is there another way by manipulating the polylines (i.e. transforming them somehow so that the profile can project them)?

If your on 09 or 10 you can also project the plines to profile. Select the
profiles view & hit the Project Objects to View Ribbon button.

Perfect, thanks for that. I use C3D 2010 but with the menubar not the ribbon (hate the thing) so not all functions display.

It works very well but seems to project the entire polyline so it wont show a single point where the profile line crosses the polyline. Even if you manipulate the style its only possible to remove the first and last points. Is there a workaround or do i have to break the polylines at each profile line?

Many thanks

Again, if you want to show the endpoints of the buildings in your profile view, use points. It really is easy to do! Create the points and then project them to the profile view. I took a screen capture of the process. If you just want the intersection of the polyline and the alignment, again, create points there, and project them. http://screencast.com/t/NzUwMDc5ZjA

Thanks Brian, very well shown demonstation. You've convinced me to use points, it was just difficult for me to pick up the apparent intersections as i cant fingure out how to do this automatically (my profile line passes through a number of polylines of different elevations).

Thanks again for the assistance.
