Problems creating a finish surface data shortcut

Hello,

I am currently using Autodesk civil 3d version 12 service pack 2 (Can't remember exact number) with windows pro 7.0 os. The problem that I am having is I would like to create a data shortcut for my finish surface but the data shortcut dialog box never comes up.

Here are the steps I take

1. Right click on the data shortcuts and select create data shortcut

2. Next it tells me you have to save the file

3. I click the quick save icon

4. In the comcand line it says q_save

5. I next try steps 1-5 over again and it always ask me to save the file but the menu  pop up to chose the file will never show up.

Here is what I tried to trouble shoot the problem.

1. In my prospect tab under surface I do see a cooridor fg and a datum

2. My corridor.dwg file is roughly 4,3325KB

3. I have 28 data shortcuts no reference file

Any help to this problem would be appreciated.

Install the latest Service Pack for C3D2012. It fixes the shortcut issue (actually fixed in a previos SP, but you should have the latest one).
