Points on Z elevation

When I insert points I do not what the point to show a Z elevation. I want to be able to pull a distance from the point and the property without it using the z factor. Thanks.

Look into your "OSNAPZ" variable, if you set it to 1, it will set all your picks to the current elevation if it is set to zero.

Also, something that I do, is I set certain points (control, found monument etc...) as flattened within the style so that if I use the normal distance command I get true distance. But osnapz works too.
