Points from a Sequel Server database

I have Civil 3D 2006. I am trying to display points from a table within a Sequel Server database. Is it possible to link dynamically with C3d 2006 or is it static? I have figured out how to connect to the database but not sure how to display as points from a table.

What you need is External data references, but it will need some tweaking to
use SQL Server

Another thing to look at is User-Defined Propeerty Classifications under
Settings->Point

Not a click-click solution, so it requires more time and space than I have
right now.

But possible.
