Point Marker and Point Location

In creating a survey plat, we have points with markers representing such entities as true property corners and rebars, etc.

In Civil 3D 2014, what is the easiest way to cause these markers to display in a legible form in the finished drawing?  I've appended a sketch showing the issue at hand, which involves two points that are close together, but whose markers must be displayed in a manner that provides more clarity for the reader of the plat.

Is there a simple way to move such point markers around independent of the points that they mark, as shown in the appended sketch?

We would of course like to be able to do this without exploding and destroying all our point objects, or having to insert new blocks for every one of the several hundred marked points to be shown, and then freezing the point and marker layers entirely!

What's the easiest way to accomplish this elementary task?

Thanks for the assistance.

McL,

Good question! How to display a Pin Cushion Corner? That would be a great question to ask at the Surveyors Forum. I think it would be a matter of notes with leaders. You certainly wouldn't want to move your Point Markers, and I don't know any way to "offset" the Marker without making a special Block.

The only thing I can think of is a "magnified" Viewport with a leader pointing to the Clusterbungle Corner.

An old question - haven't seen this one in quite a while.

Most of the time the point style uses a block, inserted at the point coordinate.  You can also use the same block as part of the point label style, which means that you can use dragged state to pull the symbol away from the true point location.

The point on the left is using a style which displays an Iron Pin block symbol.  The two points on the right are also pins but they're displayed using a Basic style with a Point Label style that uses the same Iron Pin block.  Both of them are in Dragged state, one with a leader and the other without.

Steve presents an interesting solution if one does not need to be able to see (and then hide) a label that contains the point number, elevation and description code, as we do.  If we hide this label, would not the block associated with the label also disappear?  How would we get around that?

Thanks for the thought.

I'm assuming that you want the point text label only for temporary purposes while you're working with the points.  You could use a point group with a label override for that.  Set the All Points group to display your basic label style and push it to the top of the group list.  When you're finished move it back down to the bottom and your points will revert to their normal display styles.
