Point Lables not showing with Point Markers

Hello,
I'm trying to learn 2009 Civil 3D from using Land Desktop before. I'm learning how to insert points with the text or elevations (ie. 12.3' with the point marker), but the point text labels are not showing up with the point markers. I thought I set everything up correctly in the point styles and point labels under the toolspace menu but the point labels are not showing up in model space.

Any suggestions?

Under the HELP menu, go to the Tutorials and "wade" through them.

Remember, it has been said a number of times, knowing Land Desktop puts you
to the back of the line.

The Point Group usually dictates the Point and Label Styles. Set these in
the point gorup properties.

O.K., got that, but can the point labels show up everytime you input a point marker?

No, if I understand what you're asking. Labels and markers are two
completely separate things. You can assign a marker, but that won't bring
with it a corresponding label.

I was just wondering if both the point label and point marker would display at the same time like in Land Desktop?

Have you checked in the Point Style editor (tab Display) that the label is
on?

When you first create a point in C3D, it is not part of any Point Group except for the default "_All Points" group, at least until you update one or more Point Groups.

So initially, the points will take on the styles that are selected for the "_All Points" group, unless you are assigning styles directly to the points.

Oh, and just to be explicit, the default settings for the "_All Points" point group are "Standard" for the Point Marker, and "<None>" for the Point Label. Unless you change these values, all newly-created points will appear as a Point Marker with no label (at least until you add the points to a Point Group, or unless you assign a style directly to the point).

Best bet is to change the settings on the "_All Points" point group in your template, so that they are the way you want them for all new drawings. Then you'll see a marker and label for all new points you create.
