Pipe Network Structures & Automatic Surface Adjustment

For some time now, I (and others in my office) have run into issues where storm wyes (this is the only structure that gives this result) that have the "automatic surface adjustment" toggled ON sometimes jump to an elevation that is entirely incorrect, resulting in labels that appear to go off to infinity in profile view.

Is this a known issue? It is incredibly frustrating that in order to solve this, I have to go into the original file, toggle the automatic surface adjustment to OFF, then back to ON.
