Anyone know or have an opinion on this?

never seen it before. very neat. just wishful thinking on my part, but it would be great if they had a library to download orthos, lidar etc...free of charge.
in wv, we mostly have crappy resolution aerials 2-feet not up to date available for download. there are a few counties that have 6-inch aerials. we do a lot of work in ohio, and there's a website (osip) where we download lidar and aerial photos (6-inch). makes it nice to lay out water/sewer projects on high res photos as well as generate contour maps from lidar data using point clouds for planning phases of projects.
Hi Joe,
We use it all the time. Not for engineering though. You can get general measurements off it but it's not Survey grade. If you're ever up this way I'll show you.
We don't use the full program any more. It's tied into our GIS.

If you live near the coast you can try here: http://www.csc.noaa.gov/digitalcoast/data/coastallidar/ Lidar is posted for my area.
In New York State the GIS Clearing house had ortho's for free download. Most are 1 Ft. But some counties like mine have paid for 0.5" resolution. They usually fly on a 3 year cycle. I'm sure some other states must have something similar.

With Pictometry you get Oblique view and the opportunity to measure from them. You can get building, bridge or wire heights. Good for clearances. You can also see features that you can't see in the orthos. Here's a severely cropped view of my office. I don't want to post too much because you need to buy a licence to view them.
