Pesky Selection Box appears when selecting a line

Everytime I do a command where I have to select something, such as move, copy, etc., this pesky "selection" box comes up. This started just a couple of days ago and is annoying. Anyone know what setting I need to change to get the box to go away?  Thanks!

Ctrl+W will toggle it ON/OFF.

This is a feature called Selection Cycling.
Hope this helps

It can be very useful if you have overlapping geometry though........

I've also had luck with holding shift and pressing enter to toggle through overlapping geometry.  I've let the selection cycling window remain for about a week now, but have decided that I prefer not to see it anymore.  Holding shift and pressing the space bar is fine for me.
