Pasting Surfaces

When you paste a surface into another how does it connect the surfaces?  Does it create a vertical wall where at the edge of the paste surface?  Can you tell it to grade a certain slope to the surface you are pasting into?

The pasted surface replace all the z data at the corresponding x,y. the only transition you get is to the nearset xyz. So yes you can get a near vertical face. I you are pasting A into B and wnat a controlled transition - do that before pasting. Then you are asured xyz (A) = xyz (B) and the paste is seemless.
Thank you
