Parcel line labels - can't reduce text offset enough

Hi

I am just starting to use line labels for a parcel of property. I can adjust the y offset all I want but it seems the minimum is to have the azimuth and distance text about 4 times the text height offset from the line.

Is there a trick to reducing this to say 0.5 text height?

What are you using for you text "anchor"? It should be Feature. All of my lables default to 0.0 offset. I have to set them to be off of the line. Also, what is you text alignment, bottom center, middle left, etc.? Can you do any screen captures of you label style settings?

You also need to check the border gap of the text component. It will offset the text that amount from whatever anchor point you have it attached to.
