When I use the Offset command the text window opens and when I put in the distance to offset it freezes Autocad. I have to force close Autocad and start again. Then the same thing happens. Created a new file and tried it there and got the same results. I rebooted my computer and opened another file and got the same results. Anyone have any ideas that will help stop this?
Thanks
What version are you using and do you have all updates installed. If yes have you tried to repair the install? What are your system specs and OS? What object type are you trying to offset?

Autocad 2014 and updates have been installed.
Repair was done and still have the problem.
Windows 7 and not sure what info you are asking for on "system specs".
Trying to offset a line.
Thanks
Hi,
>> Autocad 2014
AutoCAD 2014 or Civil3D 2014 (as we are here in the Civil forum)
>> updates have been installed
Can you list the updates you have installed? I don't say that are sooo many, but at least it's good to know for verification.
>> Windows 7
32bit or 64bit (Civil3D-guys: I know ... 😉 )
>> what info you are asking for on "system specs"
I guess the most important will be the graphics card (and driver) you are using.
Also interesting in case of graphical problems might be to try to toggle the AutoCAD hardware acceleration settings (try on and off).

What text window do you mean, can you make a screenshot of that (as I don't have a text window when starting command _OFFSET

Civil 3d 2014
I don't know which updates. Last night they were done by our IT person.
64 bit
The problem just started. Have been running civil3d2014 since January.
The window that comes up when you click the icon you can input hte distance you want to offset.
Type in ABOUT at command line, what does "product version" say here?

These words would make me thinking .... 😉

Please make a screenshot, because the command _OFFSET does not open a window. So I don't know what you get (or you have an app/tool installed.
For me I just get that message in the command area (or maybe in dynamic mode close to the cursor) and there I can input the distance (but no window popup anyway):

Well you got me stumped. Offset works fine for us.
I might try logging into the PC as a new user. When you start C3D it will create a new user profile and you can see if there is something messed up there.
As for the specs I wondering about PC memory mostly. Most video cards on the market work fine for most work in C3D. You might want to make sure you have the latest drivers for you card, and check the Acad hardware list to see if anything troublesome is know about your card.
If this is just a simple line I don't think sysvariables like offsetgaptype, offsetedge, etc are at causing issues.
Are you drawing the line in a plan view or 3dview?

It's the Dynamic Input that comes up. What I meant by window that comes up.
Hi,
>> It's the Dynamic Input that comes up
And does it also crash/hang if you disable dynamic input?
