Object Viewer, Featurelines, Surfaces, and Labels

I'm working with surfaces created from featurelines.  If I window around just the surface and the featurelines and activate object viewer, my surface shows up correctly as 3dWireframe. 

However, once I add slope labels to my surface and then window around it (and the featurelines and labels), Object Viewer shows the surface more like Conceptual, not wireframe. 

If I turn off the layer that the surface labels are on the surface correctly shows as 3dWIreframe again in Object Viewer.

I've attached a screenshot of each condition.

Is this controlled by a Style somewhere?  Or is it just a quirk of Object Viewer?
