Northing and Easting Labeling

Does anyone know if there is an Autocad LISP routine you can find somewhere that labels northings and eastings when you pick a point?  This would be for data to add to a plan sheet in paper space.

how about creating a general note style with the northing and Easting, if you want to label a location on a map without placing a C3D point.

but if you are looking for coordinates referance in paperspace, take a look at Map books feature.

If you're interested in a Note Style. This is what ours looks like.

thanks guys, works like a charm.  I need to take a class on styles.  It doesnt seem to work in paper space, is there a setting for that?

No. Since it's world coordinate based it can't work in paperspace. I tried the ChangeSpace command but that doesn't work either. I would think that even if it did. You'd just get coordinates based on the paper size.

Why did Autocad go and change this simple function. If it aint broke why fix it. Now you have to take 5 steps to get a foot ahead.

Once you create the Label Style and save it in your Template. You can access it easily.

What you seem to fail to understand is there simply was no need to change it!  N&E labeling is constantly used and should have remained a simple pull down.  It may be simple to reference once created but we have to sift thru the internet to figure out how to recreate the wheel.

Look at the big picture.

The dropdown would only give one format.

This way:

1. Dec. degrees

2. DMS spaced or not spaced

3. One of the above either to  Deg only, to minutes or seconds.

Several other reasons.

K,

Nope. All you need to "sift through" is the Help Section, which I find to be easy to use. Allen's Note Style can be created in under a minute. Two minutes if you have a delightful cup of coffee next to your computer.  SmileyWink.gif

Unfortunately not that easy for me. I would like to know how to include it
in a leader.

Kevin,

All label styles have a dragged state which will give you a leader.

You or I may have had no need to have it changed. But there were constantly post in LDD and early Civil 3D about how to do labels differently. Autodesk had instituted Styles which are very powerful and allow the user to customize labels in many different ways. But as with most things. The more power you have the longer it takes to learn to utilize it.
