NEW SURVEY DATABASE - Can I set it to Default to METRIC?

Hi folks,
Whenever i create a new Survey Database, it is defaulted to use International Feet. Is there a way to have it default to Metric on my template DWT?

As of now, shots get converted to feet upon import.

(Civil 3D 2010)

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Once you have change the unit to Meter, save the survey settings into a file by clicking at the appropriate button, see the attached image. Use the folder suggested. Make sure to chosse this settings next time in the user settings.

Excuse me cause the image came from my french version.

Kevin:

You need to look in the list of dwt's. There are Imperial and Metric, I
would think you would want to be using a metric from the beginning.

Ha nothing to do with the DWT Bill. Every time a survey db is created it is
imperial by default, unless you implement the change specified by Francois.

Thanks Matt:

I completely overlooked the Survey Database portion. I have never used it,
I will go back underground for the time being.

Use the Control Panel to Repair/Reinstall
Select Reinstall The Setup program will allow options for Imperial, Metric and CalTrans Templates to be created on the DeskTop.

You can set the database up how you want and if you need to, share it with other users. A how to is located here:

http://www.civil3d.com/2009/09/pushing-default-settings-survey-database/

You can also create multiple versions and switch between either using code or making multiple registry entry batch files.
