Mpolygons transparency

I converted a drawing from microstation- one of the ref dwgs has mpolygons that act like hatch entitites. Only i cannot seem to make them transparent like the were before the conversion. any suggestions or anyone familiar with mpolygons and dimming them down?

Mpolygon is one of few objects that do not have a transparency property. If you explode them they become polylines, which you can hatch with a transparent hatch.

1. You can set transparency to the layer

or

2. try to change property Transparency programmatically. MPolygon definetly has this property but somehow it is not available via properties palette...
