Moving styles

Where do I go to copy styles to other drawings so I can avoid going through the steps to create the same styles.

In Civil 3D 2011, use the command AECCIMPORTSTYLESANDSETTINGS or AECCIMPORTSTYLES. Or for any version earlier than 2011 use drag and drop from the Toolspace Settings tab.

Better yet, if you're on subscription, download the 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack and use the Copy Styles Utility.

This is really great for moving styles from your drawings into drawings that come from others or into your old Land Desktop drawings. Does anyone still have those?

Tim:

I don't see anything in the Sub Advan Readme about the Copy Styles Utility.  Is there a command name?

Make sure you got the C3D SAP, Bill. There is one for Autocad plus the one for C3D. Also, if you use User Defined Properties in your points, make sure to read the post from last week regarding these and the SAP.

It's available for 2011 only, so be sure you're using that version. On the Toolbox tab of Toolspace, it will be under Subscription Extension Manager, Utilities, Import Styles and Settings.

Like I said "I did not see anything. . . ."   Obviously I did not install the proper one.  No wonder I had nothing in my "Subscription Extension Manager".   I am trying to blame Jeff for not setting me straight about this, but he didn't know my problem, so here I am.

Thanks again to Tim and Jeff.

There are third party applications out there that provide a whole lot more flexibility to styles and settings management than is currently built into Civil 3D (even with SAP).

Some examples are:

http://inmotioncon.com/c3dstgs.shtml

http://www.quuxsoft.com/SincpacC3D_Help/SP_ImportCivilStyles.htm

http://www.cadstandardsmanager.com/

I know InMotion and Quux provide 30 day free trials and I am pretty sure that CSM does too.

Hey, Josh. That's exactly what we would like to see built into Civil 3D. Your product looks like it is laid out nicely. Maybe you can talk Autodesk into adding your style manager to Civil 3D instead of writing their own.
