More contour lable lines

Now how do I hide the ticks that get created on layer 0 when I use the label
multiple option on the contours? I want to get the white ticks in the
attached png on the same layer as the magenta contour label line.

Just do a regular layer change. If you have a bunch of them use 'select similar'. In general you may want to change your settings (see attched) in your dwg as well as your dwt file so that these lines are placed on the same layer as you create them. I made a non-plot layer P-TTLINE that is always visable but doesn't plot.

I did change that setting in the CreateSurfCntrLabelLine command. The
magenta line is the contour label line that defaulted to my _Hide layer as
expected. My issue is that when I use the Label Multiple command the white
ticks do not go to the layer listed in the CreateSurfCntrLabelLine command.
I know this can be done manually but I don't want my users to have to do
this every time they label contours.

Is the layer set in the Create Contour Labels command to the proper layer when you create the labels? It doesn't appear to matter if you are selecting multiple or single contour lines.

Yes, the default layer comes up correct in the Create Contour Labels
toolbar.

Does this occur in other dwgs?

Yes. I get the same exact results when I use the templates that shipped with
C3D. The Contour Label Line goes to the correct layer. The lines/tick marks
that attach to all elev. labels that do not lie on the Contour Label Line do
not go to the default Contour Label Line layer.

I haven't been able to recreate your problem. You may need to post a dwg.

Here is my dwg. The default contour line layer is _Hide.

I reproduced the issue in the _Autodesk Civil 3D (Imperial) NCS Classic.dwt
template that ships with LDT. This template has defpoints as the default
contour label line layer. The tick go to layer zero. I changed the color of
defpoints for a better display.

There has to be another switch/setting for this.

I am up to date with SP's.

Well it seems to work for me without leaving a line on layer 0 (magenta lines are mine) for either version. This goes for either single or multiple line labels and without changing any of your settings. Weird. I wouldn't know where to go next other than trying to reproduce this on another machine. I currently have a problem where my LabelModify command doesn't work on my machine only. Good Luck.

I am beginning to think there is a general line label or a general elevation
label that you have set somewhere that the Autodesk template and I do not
have set.

If that png you posted is what you labeled I do see the issue. Does that
picture confirm that you got the same results with my dwg?

Hi John,
I get the same results as you. I see in Andy's PNG that he doesn't have a
distance set for the Multiple Option so none are getting placed.

I cannot find another setting that controls this......IMHO it should be the
same as the original Contour Label Line.

Andy,

If you have a moment & don't mind,

Open Drawing2.dwg (this is from an out-of-the-box template) and erase
everything on the 0 and defpoints layers. If you try the other dwg, erase
everything on the 0 and _hide layers.

Every single contour elevation label should disappear.

Relabel the contours. The default layer should list as _hide on the Create
Contour Labels toolbar. Make sure you are set to "Label Multiple Group
Interior" with a 60 foot interval and place a couple of lines with the Group
Label Line command.

Repost if you can.

Thanks,

Thanks for the confirmation Jeff. I would agree that the same layer should
be used, but as you already stated, it's just an opinion. I really think
there a general label somewhere that needs to be fished out.

Ahh. Wrong multiple on my end. Thinking lines, not labels per line. Went ahead and tried multiple label and found the original label line is correct but the additional lines used the current layer. Agreed that it should use the original layer.

You're welcome.
And I have confirmation that this is something that is broken in 2007. No
adjustments to your set will fix it, we now return you to your regularly
