Missing Language Pack

{color:#333399}All of a sudden out of the blue when I open certain dwgs in civil 3d 2008, I am getting a dialogue box to use windows to install a missing language pack for chinese, thai, arabic to name a few. I have option to open or close the box...or never show dialogue again...but its still around...The stuff that twilight zone is made of. Anyone have this abnormal thing happen to them as well?{color}

Who worked on the drawing last? You should only get this when a
non-native language version of AutoCAD was used to edit the drawing.

The exact same thing happened here to us over the last few weeks...must be something in the air.....

What is weird we'll get it in a drawing one day, then the same drawing next day (or an hour later) and no message. I'm wondering if some sort of Windows patch/update goofed something up.

Glad to hear we're not alone. I thought for a while we opened an office in Beijing and no one told me.

I have been seeing the same thing for over a year. I always figured it was because I'm opening a map used by a co-worker that works from home and uses her version of Map3D. When she's finished, she logs in remotely and transfers the drawing back in. Then someone in-house opens it and we get that message. It only seems to happen on the maps that are shared like that - but like you, it's not everytime.

Happens all the time..two to three times a week. That check box that you tick not to show that message again does nothing.

A missing language pack may also indicate that you have a virus (Acad.vlx virus).

We've followed the cleanup process indicated in the Autodesk Knowledge Base......didn't do a thing. Still get the Missing Language Pack message almost all of the time.

This removes the virus from the computer, correct?  The dwg file is still "contaminated"?  Is there a way to decontaminate the file?

We started getting this come up at our office last year and so I had everyone go through the instructions for the acad.vlx virus and it went away (or we stopped getting the messages anyway).  But as soon as I installed C3D 2011, I am getting it again on every drawing I have opened so far (which is only a few - I am not sure if I should open too many).  I went through the instructions from here http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13717811&linkID=9240617 again for my 2011 installation and I still get the messages.  These are drawings that were created by me and used only by me from an English based install.

One other thing.  No one in the office ever found the logo.gif file, acad.vlx file, or the string of text mentioned in the virus fix.

I came across this forum when I was searching for an answer to why I was getting the missing language pack pop-up suddenly in Civil 3D 2013.  It first started when I received a drawing from outside of our company.  It has now since spread to new drawings we created inhouse from our templates.  I reviewed the instructions from here http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=13717811&linkID=9240617 and never found the the logo.gif file, acad.vlx file, the string of text mentioned in the virus fix, or the ACADLSPASDOC system variable changed to 1.  I've wblocked items out and even backsaved files.  This is only a temporary fix, since later on when the file is opened it eventually displays the missing language pack dialog box.  It's quite annoying especialy since it seems to be affecting another computer in my office.  Is there a solution to fix this?

We are using Civil 3D 2013 Service Pack 2.
