Masked area on clipped sheets

On the side of sheets created with the Create Sheets command there is a grey area that masks out the referenced files at the match line.  Is there a way to reproduce this without having View Frames and using the Create Sheets?  In other words, I a manually creating these plan sheets and I wonder if there is a better way of masking than using wipeout on the sheet tabs.

The other way would be to use a Polygonal Vewport that cuts the view off at the match line. This eliminates the need for wipeouts.

Basically, all the match line is doing is placing a solid hatch in the drawing. If you want to replicate it, just do that. You'll need to make sure you put them on appropriate layers and freeze/thaw in the appropriate viewports.

So, a solid hatch that prints white?
