MapExport on 2014 Not Working

Interesting find this morning.  In C3D 2014, the MAPEXPORT asks to save the file name, give the file a name, and then nothing happens.  I have done a repair and to no avail, nothing.  The dialog box does not appear, and no file is created.

Anyone else??

BTW, I have tried the shapefile and SDF options.  Neither works.  DGN works fine.  Haven't tested the others.

the first of a raft of previously working features that are broken in a new release and which will take at last 6 months to fix, if at all. .....!?!?!?

Yep. Same thing every year.

Sorry for confirming this for the German C3D 2014 too (also with the option "Start Civil3D as AutoCAD").

The dialog for filename is ok, then the dialog for the export options does not come up, command finished (without any result).

MAPIMPORT doesn't work either for shp or sdf.

Have you tried it with FILEDIA set to 0 ? If you do and you get the option to enter a file name. Try entering a tilde (~). That should bring up the dialog box. This might not help but may assist in diagnosis. I don't have the 2014 trial loaded yet. Hopefully this weekend.

I spoke with Autodesk and it's a known issue.  They sent me the file to fix, but I don't know if I can share the information to fix it.  I will email them and ask.  If they say I can I will post the fix.

Hi,

>> Have you tried it with FILEDIA set to 0

You must do two things to get this command running without filedialog:

1) set FILEDIA to 0

2) start the command with a leading dash -MAPEXPORT

Just one of the two options (like used for other commands) will always start the filedialog for MAPEXPORT.

Anyway, also that startprocedure does not call the options dialog (for how and what to export):

(command "-MAPEXPORT")
nil

...here the command ends without additional options or export-options dialog.

(sorry for german language)

Here you go guys.  Attached is a file for the fix...

  1. Download the attached file (providers.zip)
  2. Browse to:  C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014\bin\FDO
  3. Rename providers.xml to providers.bak
  4. Unzip the attached file under the same location:  C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014\bin\FDO

After this open Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014 and you should be able to use the MAPIMPORT and MAPEXPORT commands.

thanks for sorting this out. I still find it incredible that the most basic functionality like this manages to slip through the QA procedures presumably because they divert their resources to the sexy new stuff (Infraworks) rather than the "meat and potatoes" stuff

For anyone interested:

MapExport is also broken in 2013 with 2014 installed alongside.

The fix and file attached within this thread if applied to the 2013 folder will also fix this issue in 2013.

and why isn't there a Map 3D Export selection in the Output Tab-Map Data Transfer panel as help instructs you in exporting drawing objects to SHP?
