Map in Civil3D

Does anyone know if the Map tools will be provided with the final production
run of Civil3D? I use these tools constantly and I hope I will get to
continue to use them with Civil3D.

The current plan as I understand it is that C3D will not ship with Map.
Since for now, you'll get LDT and C3D almost always together, that makes
sense.

I'm with you, I hope many of the Map tools ship with the production version
of C3D.

I can't say definitively when, how, what, etc - but we see a clear need to
have Map tools built into Civil 3D. What would be very interesting is if you
can provide some examples of how you use the Map tools. Drawing clean,
ADE/Query? Everything, etc?

Thanks

Hi Dave,

Drawing cleanup, data exchange with Map Info, Arc Info, Microstation etc.,
and queries from other drawings are absolutely essential for all users I
meet.

Other map tools are of lesser interest because their uses are not as
immediately obvious, and often are highly dependent on creating data sets
with significant imput.

As Laurie stated, all these things essential and just so it doesn't go
unstated the API's beneath them too.

Dave,

The tools I use often are the drawing cleanup and the query tools. I've
dabbled with some of the others but haven't, as of yet, found a use for them
in my work.

what Laurie said, plus the ability to query in subsets of linework from
attached drawings (e.g. from an overall engineering plan or overall plat).

I also use the topology & Image commands with the others you have all
listed. Drawing Cleanup is an ESSENTIAL tool. It's a great way to cleanup
all of the Plines that LDD creates in watersheds, topologies, surface
boundaries etc.. We use it a lot to get boundaries & hatches to work with
the large coordinate systems.

what Laurie said,
I use map query features weekly, It's essential on huge data sets, We NEED
that ability!
? Are going to build a query feature into civil 3d.
