Map WMS Addresses

All, I have been asked to make a map similar to the attached PDF, My first thought was to string together a bunch of quad map PDF's, but this seems like it would be a good time to practice connecting to a wms sight. I have all of the points i need to show in state plane coordinates. Does anyone know where to find a good example of maps. It seems like a fairly simple task. Thanks in advance.
Thanks,
Dave

You forgot to attach the PDF, but I'll make a suggestion anyway.

Have you explored the National Map Viewer? Search that term and you'll find it. It's a site provided free of charge by USGS. You can download images, maps, terrains and lots of vector-based SHP files of various infrastructure like roads, pipes, etc.

Best regards,

Tim

Tim,

I do frequently use the National Map site. The best thing I could think of using was the geo pdf, but i have to seem quite a few together. Is there something I am missing on the site that will allow me to place a map in the background in state plane coordinates?

Thanks,

Dave

Do you mean to use the images as background inside Civil 3D ?

Yes, it is my hopes to provide my client a map that showes streets, cities, and some horizontal control points.

Thanks,

We also have a licence to Google earth pro, but no one knows how to export a map.
Thanks,

If you'd like to produce an offline clever map, forget the GeoPDF, because it's too expensive and too difficult to achieve.

Instead, I advise trying the Autocad Map native GeoDWF format.

If you'd like to make an online professional-looking map, browsable by a child, check this out.

A few version ago you could of imported the GE map into Civ3D/Map3D but now it's not an easy task. My first suggection is use SL-King or FDO tools to export SDF to KML and use Google Earth to display your map(s).
