Logical Targets

Can someone explain to me why, or even if, alignment and profile targets need to be set in the region target mapping dialog box when the alignment and profile have already been assigned to the baseline?

This is assuming that the assembly does NOT require these targets - ie lane transition etc.

Specifically my assembly uses basiclane, basiccurbandgutter, basicsidewalk, and linkwidthandslope

I have tried running the corridor without setting targets and with targets set for the profile for linkwidthandslope (no target set for the alignment) and the resulting surfaces are different.

Can someone clue me in on how C3D uses these targets so I know when to set them?

Thanks

The targets that appear depend soley on the the sub-assemblies that you are
using. Some like basiclane transition have an optional profile and
alignment target that allow you to control offset and EOP profile. But if
you do not need those controls then you can leave them blank. Many of the
sub assemblies have optional targets such as this. Basic rule of thumb is
if you dont need them, then you can leave them blank.
