Line Segment Label Anchor Point

I am trying to create surface elevation labels along a polyline and I am having an issue with the label anchor point.  I have created a line label style that uses a reference text to produce the elevation from a specified surface, however when I insert the label the default anchor point for the label is in the center of the line segment and that is where the reference text is taking the surface elevation.  I am looking for the elevation of the surface at the start of each line segment, and I do not know how I can make it stop defaulting to the center of the line segment.

Attached is an overview of what my labels look like, where the anchor point is, and the layout properties within my label style.

Thanks for any help with this, I am using C3D 2012.

John that lable style .. at point.... is killer, two thumbs up.

I like that better than FL lables

Thnx but I think I got some another guru here (JW, DP or MK??) or on the old Civil3D.com site some time ago. It is real nice but I rarely use them. 😮 Most often I use the multiple option to add endpoint labels of the FLines end z. The Elev - (End Z) is the one I use on virtually every FLine model. I use that on EOP's, septic field corners, bld corners, pool corners, loading docks, cell tower pads, swales, berms...

Another thing I really like about these is that if the labels are on the wrong side of the Fline, reversing the feature line is another option to flipping the labels. 🙂

Let me also disclaim that if you use the Elev - (End Z) or similar labels that will pin the elev to start or end you will also need to drag the label anchor CLOSE to the start/end if you want the leader in the dragged state. Regardless, these labels have been around for a while and are a fast, simple way to get the elevations to plans for small grading projects without alignments, profiles, corridors, etc.

There are other issues with these type of labels when you add elev pnts or PI's. Label locations shift. I deal with these issues by pinning labels or by removing and readding them.

Ok now I have to get back to my 4:00 deadline.
