Large Surface Rendering Issues

Fellow Caddies:

My current employer deals with some fairly ridiculous surfaces (Upwards of 15M points). These are taking a fairly hefty chunk of time to render and I'm attempting to find a solution to the problem. So...

Is there a way to share a single, large surface among multiple drawings/scales (like a data reference) while being able to trim down the size being rendered in each drawing?

I'm open to any, and all ideas.

Look at the command "Create Cropped Surface" this lets you split a surface into sections.

Does that keep the surface data linked? There are changes made to these that need to be reflected throughout the plan set.
