Lagging and Cursor Flickering

Specs:

Autocad Civil 3D 2011 (64 bit)

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX-62 Dual Core Processor

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260  (Graphics Card)

8 gigs of DDR2 ram

Dual monitors

Windows 7 64 bit

The cursor (crosshair / mouse) flickers constantly when I am moving the mouse around inside the autocad work space.  If I draw a line the flickering gets even worse and it starts to lag slightly.  The computer meets all of the recomended requirements as far as I am aware.

The CPU never goes above 45% usage and the RAM never goes past 21% usage.  So the computer does not seem to be overloaded especially just trying to draw a line.  All the drivers are up-to-date.  Is it possible there is some sort of compatability issue going on here or something I am overlooking?

If you installed Update 1 there have been several inquires in this DG about this.

Turn off Hardware Acceleration, then turn it back on.

Helped me solve my lagging issue. Apparently mine was turned off. Turning it on solved the lagging issue. However I cannot update the driver even though it tells me there's a new driver for the hardware acceleration. I've attached screen shots of what happens when I click Yes for it to update the driver. On the system however, I know I have the latest driver for the video card. Can I disregard this or its a completely different entity? Thanks in advance.

Right click on the C3D icon and select Run as Administrator. Once C3D opens you should be able to update the driver database.

Same problem here, but would you mind explaining how to turn off/on Hardware Acceleration?

Thanks so much!

Working on Civil 3D in Canada

Well after nearly 2 good working months all of a sudden the flickering has begun.

Ran the update on the graphics card and restarted the PC.

I have also clicked on a layer filter that does not show the XREF's layering system, to no avail.

The lagging seems to have subsided but the flickering cursor is very bothersome.

Civil 3D 2015 had the same issue which could not be solved, but finally righted itself.

Thank you for your help.

I Had this issue, None of the above worked for me.

What finally worked was to switch profiles.

I switched form a profile (arg file) I had created to one of the default (C3D Imperial). This instantly stopped the flashing cursor/crosshairs.

I must assume my arg file had become corrupt.

Thanks, Bruce.  Switching profiles is what finally worked for me as well.

I had the same problem and the workspace switch worked for me as well.

Same for me, please change the accepted solution to "switching profiles".

Toggling on/off hardware acceleration did not fix the issue for me, but swapping profiles did.

Cheers

Switching profiles used to work, but stopped with a recent Windows 7 update.

This worked though:  switch the view from Active to Master in Prospector.

Hello guys,

I was just trying to fix mine cursor flickering and lagging everytime I move anything.

None of the above worked tho. And it started happening in all of autodesk programs such as Maya and 3DSMax just like that after working fine for a month.

I came here to contribute to the Fixes list, my was turning off G-Sync in Nvidia control Panel.

IDK why but for some reason I guess it stopped cooperating with GPU creative apps.

After disabling G-Sync everything works flawless.

Do you have any tips if that option is greyed out and will not allow for changes?

It won't let me turn Hardware Acceleration on or off.

The flashing crosshairs and moving objects is driving me crazy.
