Has anyone experienced this issue, and if so how did you resolve it.  I get this error every time I open a new session of Civil 3D.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi c_ecklund-

It seems I have seen this error come up quite a bit recently with users. These 3 suggestion usually resolve the issue for most users:

  • Reboot the machine in question.
  • Repair Installation.
  • .NET framework. Mostly applicable to users running XP as their operating system as this is integrated into Windows 7. Please see Almas’s blog post for more information: http://beingcivil.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/02/what-can-net-framework-do-to-you.html
  •

I would try each suggestion individually, then test to see if the error message is gone; as we have had reported success with each of these suggestions.

    Hope this helps!

Is your computer connected to the internet?

I've occasionally seen that message, and from the details of the error message, it looks like something related to Communication Center.  I was kind of guessing it had something to do with a failure to communicate with some Autodesk server during startup, and we get a somewhat-misleading error message.

Disable the AutoCAD InfoCenter for this worked.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R18.1\ACAD-XXXX:XXX\InfoCenter

    Then set InfoCenterOn to zero.
