Import BIL file to Civil 3D

Hi all, I'm trying to build a surface using downloaded BIL files from Mexico's INEGI (National Institute of Statistics and Geography) website: http://www.inegi.org.mx/geo/contenidos/datosrelieve/continental/descarga.aspx I tried using MAPINSERT to bring in different BIL files but get the following error, "Invalid data or no data found." I have attached a couple downloaded INEGI examples. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Adam

Seems like that BIL format is not Acad-compatible: try the attached one instead, sir.

And how con you convert the BIL files to TIF files? Only with ArcGIS?

Lucia,

_MAPIINSERT will import that .bil file into C3D.

Somebody knows how to create a surface using this .bil file?

Hi Rodolfo,
To be able to use a BIL file to create a surface you'll first need to convert it to a GEOTIFF in QGIS or another software. Or maybe an online converter.

Thank you so much Dave!!

I thought there was a direct way to use the .bil file in CIVIL 3D.

Regards

If you were to consider third party add-ons, DotSoft's C3DTools allows the user to import a ENVI Raster Band Interleaved (*.bil) file directly into a Civil3D GridSurface.
