Image quality dreadful in 3DS Max design compared to Civil 3D

I've got a georeferenced jpg that looks great in Civil 3D but the image quality is dire when draped in 3DS Max Design - see screenshots.

I've draped the image in Civil 3D and it looks as good in 3D as it does in Plan view

How can I resolve this problem?

Thanks

This is probably due to the render material. try using the image as bump maps etc as well.

Apply the material and map it to the surface using an ffd box so you can adjust it to suit, forgive me it has been about 10 years since i used Max in anger.

The solution - thanks to Florian at Autodesk support - to this is

Change the texturesize of the viewport by going to Configure --> Display Performance. Here you should change the texturesize to i.e.: 4048.
Then reboot 3dsMax.
