Thanks for all of the responses. And yes I am here in the office on a Sunday to fix my squiggly contours. Maybe Autodesk can look at acquiring Eagle Point's surface creation engine and have it as an option to generate contours. I would love to see that! Ok, continuing with my Sunday fun since the French Open is in a rain delay...
Thanks Seth. I am aware of this method of smoothing. It contains addtional steps to creating contours that should not be necessary. It just makes my work life much more time consuming every time the design changes.
Is there really that much information in a surface that it would compromise the confidentiality of a project?
One thing I thnkk engineers have lost track of is that contours have always been a REPRESENTATION of a surface from INTERPOLATED data. In the past, contour generation by hand was as much "art" as science, and only as good as the data provided the drafter, who then artistically made them look good.
The use of a surface by TIN has enhanced the acuracy (if the source data is acurate), but has sacrificed some of the art.
Hope you got the contours how you like them.
