How can I do 3D snap with a surface on a orbit view?

I think it can't be possible ? (I dont see the way ....)

I have my surface, I'm seeing it in orbit view mode . (also it doesn't work on 2D...)

I'd like to create a 3d Poly using some points on the triangles of my surface....

I'd need a transparent Inquiry tool , to use when I create points or  3dpols

I think it is basic....

I know _AeccFeatureElevsFromSurf

but i'm talking about a 3d Snap....

Any idea would be appreciated , thanks.

if you have your OSNAPZ set to zero, you can set your surface to display triangles, start the 3DPOLY command, and then use object snaps to snap to your points of interest. does that help you in any way?

If you want to snap to the triangles lines, not the faces, you should use the previous suggestion.

If you have to snap to the faces, you need to set current a surface style that shows the Slopes. Explode twice and then use CONVTOSURFACE to convert from the resultant 3D solids to 3D Faces. Once you do that, the 3DOsnap CenterofFace will work on individual faces.

I'm just curious, what's your reason for not wanting to create a feature line rather than a 3DPoly?

I agree, a transparent command that offered surface elevation would be nice.

3Dpoly simply are easier to draw and give somebody, isn't it?

Maybe this,a 3Dsurface -Snap for 2D and 3D, could be done by customization (program) ?

In addition, feature lines ask for a lot of information .... I only want to draw inf pure 3D !!

C3D has the ability of know the coordinates (Z ) behind the cursor (although only in 2D....)

SO I understand that it could be easy to program what I want.

Thanks.

Did you know that you can explode a feature line into a 3D polyline?
