Help a newbie out

Hi Guys,

I am new to Autocad so would appreciate your help.

My goals are essentially this:

1) To create in 3d existing infrastructure (roads, buildings, trees etc)

2) To then add things such as new street signs or trees or so forth.

I would appreciate your help in first achieving step one.

To get the elevation and etc I have figured the best way is to use the google maps extension and import a 3d mesh plus the image data into Autocad. I have attached a screenshot of this step.

I now wish to create the roads etc. I figure I need to create some parcels and assemblys and so forth but I can't seem to achieve these. Polyline tool doesn't like me, in some spots it doesnt even create a line and in some spots it wont let me put the point where I want.

What is the easiest way to trace the lines of the roads and bounds in the attached screenshot so I can start to create the corridors etc ?

thanks in advance!

Eddie

Think 2d first and let it evolve into 3d. You ned to be gin with planemetrics; you should be able to creat roadway center lines of you aerial view, attach an assembly and make a corridor. Although there are probably simpler way to recreate existing conditions

Thank you
