HKLM\SOFTWARE\Autodesk registry missing (Civil3d 2010 Win 7 64-bit)

On our new Windows 7 64-bit machines, we have encountered several of the Civil 3d 2010 network deployment installation issues (missing sub-assebly tool palettes) as described in http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Civil-3D/Civil-3D-2010-tool-palletts-blank-for-subassemblies/m... and several other articles.

We have worked around the missing tool palettes by scrapping our deployments and doing installations from scratch for each computer from copies of the installation discs on the network.

The above solved the tool palette issue, but I am perplexed by the fact that there is no registry key for Autodesk in the registry's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE, and only on some computers.

Does anyone have an explanation for this? It does not appear to interfere with Civil 3d 2010 running, and I'm not sure why that is, or why it is only on certain machines. Is it possible that running the installation in "Run as administrator" has anything to do with it? There were no errors during installation.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Look further under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node and you shoudl be able to find the tree.
