Get a list of Available Point numbers

I just had an internal request for this and I had to look it up. So I'll share what I found and have a place to find it myself next time.

One way to do it is to select a COGO point to bring up the COGO Point Contextual menu tab. In COGO Point Tools you can select List Available Point Numbers.

The method I prefer is to simply type LISTAVAILABLEPOINTNUMBERS or LISTUSEDPOINTNUMBERS at the command line.

Just wanted to add. Those commands can be set up as Aliases. So you don't have to type in the whole command each time.

Oh. You might also like the NEXTPT command. It will allow you to see both a Free and Used point list and set the next point #.

Hi Allen

My system does not identify NEXTPT. how did you find it?

Thank you

Allen, do you have a third party app for that command?  Or is it newer than 2011 maybe?

Command: nextpt Unknown command "NEXTPT".  Press F1 for help.

No embedded image option here either.

I have a couple of 3rd party apps running in 2012. I'll have to check it out. Most 3rd party command line start with an identifying character. I don't see that but I'll check their help files. I don't remember how I found it. I was adding the previously discussed command to my notes and noticed that one.

Autofill completes it, if that means anything.

Looks like I can insert an image.

OK. I found it. It is a 3rd party app, Sincpac. However they also have separate ones for used and free points. Since I found that there are command line equivalent in Civil Maybe I'll find and equivalent of that too. Using the commands above. It wouldn't be too difficult to write a routine to duplicate it.

Allen,

Can I ask how you get the picture in the body of the post instead of as an attachment at the bottom as a link.

I know I did this once or twice but can't remember what I did.

Follow the link posted by troma in message 9. This will explain the current problems they're having. I may be able to insert the picture at the moment because of my EE status.

Joe. I don't quite read it like that. I'd say - they did away with it by accident. The last message said "This issue has been identified and we are working on a fix." That seems to mean they plan on reinstating it if possible.
