GEOTECHNICAL MODULE-STATUS

Hello,

I am using Civil 3D 2014.

I have a need for the Geotechnical Module to import borings and generate surfaces from them.  However, I know there were many limitations with the Geotechnical Module earlier this year.  Does anyone know if the Geotechnical Module has been improved with a patch or similar upgrade since January of this year?

Can you elaborate on the limitations?

A few comments from past posts, as follows:

Another word of caution for using the module is to beware of the surfaces created, they do not model the subsurface correctly at this time and in some situations a lower stratum could appear above a higher stratum.

We do not expect the automatically created surfaces to be correct, as all it is doing is joining the dots together from the strata locations in the boreholes with, but they are an excellent starting point.

The surfaces need to be interpreted and manipulated to show a true representation of the strata.

However I am surprised how a lower stratum can appear above the higher stratum. The tool just displays the information there in the order it finds it.

The geotechnical module will not show any water related data

Labeling was an earlier issue and file production.  File corruption was also prevalent if tried to work around labeling issues, etc.

No change in the current version. If you want more flexibility you need to use the big brother of the geotech module which is the holebase SI extension for civil 3d from keynetix
