An architect sent me a font (.shx) file to use in their title block. I pasted the file into the autocad font folder on my computer. I am able to find and change mtext to that font in CD 2010, but it is not showing up as the correct font. When I open the text in the text editor in shows up as the correct font, but as soon as I close the text editor it changes the font back to the original font.
Perhaps you are getting fonts and style names comfused. Start the Style command and in the dialog box select new. Now select your .shx file. Hopefully you do not have the same name.shx file. If you do, rename the new shx to something else.
