Does anyone know how to make the flared end sections have the same slope as the pipes they are connected to in the profile view?

I believe that can't be done. You could create several different styles displaying at different slopes to meet your needs if it's important.

Hi Brian,

I'm the one that originally asked about the flared end section slopes. Speaking of structures, I can't seem to remember how to depict manhole walls with the correct style settings for manholes in profiles. Do you know what I need to do in Manhole styles to see the walls when the alignment-profiles slice through the center of a manhole?

I'm not sure I follow. Can you post a picture showing what you have and what you want?

Brian,

See the attached pdf manhole detail drawing. The the lower left viewport is a closeup on a xref of a profile for a civil 3d manhole 1. I have already manually drawn in the inner wall lines of manhole 1 in the profile. In the plan view of manhole 1 in the viewport directly above, I manually drew in the outer wall with a dashed circle. What I get without drawing anything in is what you see for the profiles and plan views for Manholes 2 & 3. I just want to be able to see the walls of the manhole in the profile view without having to draw them with vanila ACAD.

You can draw a block showing the manhole's inner and outer walls and then have the style use the block and get the dimensions from the structure. I don't recall how Civil 3D stretches the block, so I'm not sure if the top and bottom thickness of the manhole would show correctly.

I tried this a while back, but as you pointed out - the problem is the blocks are inserted at different y scales depending on invert depths, so floor thicknesses for example won't be correct. Wall thicknesses would also be incorrect if using the same block for different diameter manholes, but doesn't look as funny as incorrect floor thicknesses.

If you explode the structures to a block definition and view the inserted scales, you will see the y value changes from on manhole to another.

Thanks everyone for your replies for flared end section slopes and mh wall thicknesses in profiles. Perhaps these are wish list items for c3d 2011.

It's too late to get wish list items in for 2011. Since the programs are typically released in March, they are probably in the throws of beta testing and won't put anything new into the program that isn't already planned to be in there. We don't want them to do that either because that's how you get AutoCAD 13 (project creep). It definitely is a valid wish but don't expect to see a wish you make at this point show up in 2011.
