Feature lines, surfaces, and Object Viewer

When I use Object Viewer to look at just featurelines and surfaces, the featurelines do not appear at the same elevation as the surface as I shift the view around.  Why is that- especially since I am looking at the surface I created from those same featurelines?

is that a feature, intended to make it easier to discern the featurelines in Object Viewer?  Or a quirk of my video card?

Check the Triangles tab of the Surface Style.Make sure that 'Use Surface Elevation' is selected.

If thats not it check the 3D Geometry tab of the survey figure styles and make sure that 'Use Surface Elevation' is selected.

Along with Caleb's good advice, I would also check your surface edits. You may have accidentally moved the surface up.
