We ran into this again today using Civil3d 2010. Anyone using 2011 or 2012 chime in to let us know if this has been fixed? In the meantime I guess I will just have to explode my fence so i can actually see the fence linetype.
In 2011 the linetype generation issue is still a problem with feature lines and survey figures. The linetypes show as you'd expect (without line type generation) but no linetype continuation around corners. 2012 is the same.
Well, in Autodesk's defense, the first post in this thread was in 2006, so it's not like they've had much time to work on this problem...
I hate this problem. I have it also.
I do know of a solution, but it's limited. If you convert your drawings into Style Based pen settings and set a style to be dashed (or whatever linetype you need), it will show feature lines, as well as 3D Polylines as dashed through corners when printed/previewed. Sadly, the amount of linetypes you can assign to a style are pretty limited. It seems that you can't use linetypes from a custom linetype file, only works with default linetypes.
Another problem we have is that so many people are so bent on Color Based pen settings that they have no clue on what to do when they come across Style Based drawings. For convienence, we stick with color based, even though I would rather convert to style based, but problems like this in color based drawings drive me crazy. I sure wish AutoDesk would add this feature to 3D polylines and Feature lines.
That's awesome! Does this apply to 3D polyline objects?
Sad part is we just talked our parent company to release 2012 licenses to us just a few weeks ago. I'll have to wait another year it seems before I get this superb new feature.
