FDO print issue

I have some parcels over an aerial. I have a solid fill and parcel lines. everthing looks fine on screen and preview but the line don't seem to want to print. Why?

I tried pdf first and the lines came out on the pdf but not the plotter. odd, no?

Thank you

I know this doesn't really help, but specific to your last sentence. I have seen just the opposite here before. Objects that do not exist in the drawing and do not exist in the PDF, but they plot. We came to the conclusion that the lines are being created in the plot (the pdf) in a way that Adobe ignores them, but the print driver doesn't.

Does your issue change if you plot to DWF, PDF, generic plot file, etc?

Doesn't seem to matter what format.

here is a new wrinkle: audited the drawing and cleand up some errors. Then I detached and reattached the shp file aand the parcels print, but now the road labels don't. I'm beginning to understand why my drafter doesn't like FDO Smiley Surprised
Thank you

Try playing with the layers in the map display tab of the map task pane, reorder them and see if that makes a different. To repeat myself I wasn't invited to the last 2-3 map3d betas.

Did that and no change. Cleared the cache and no change. Put the aerial in an xref and no change Is there something that can be done the the aerials to help?

And unfortunately when I save the layers to dwg the parcel lines become a mess and the road name labels become single letters with many duplicates.

It seems (and I have no way of proving this) if I set the road line color to none all the parcel lines and road lables print. Annoying to say the least

That almost sounds like there might be a problem with the source file. I've never experienced that when using Save as Drawing. If you have time. You might try doing a mapimport to see if you have similar troubles.

comes in fine. Say would you be able to outline the steps for labeling Object data for the mapimport stuff?

I've seen this Randy. I get two lines forming an L shape that was tipped on it's side and a small rectangle hatch fitting in the L (untilted.png). It plots 3 to 6 times on each sheet. I originally though it was a small hidden viewport but no. I can't see it in model space, any of the layouts or in print preview. Now to add to the fun I have all machines doing this for some projects not all and in one project the issue fixed itself....

More funny plot stuff w/ 14 (untitled2.png). As you can see the xref with the section view is on a layer named XR that has the vpfreeze variable set. Not much of an issue for us since it does not plot and fixes with a regen.

II haven't done that in quite a while. It's not that easy as it involve setting up a template for the labels [somwhat similar to adding attribures to a block]. You might want to refer to help or google it. You'd get better information than I could pull out of my g

Here's the basic steps.

command : _mapanntemplate Create a new one and give it a name,,

Then command _.MAPANNTEXT, press enter for a new tag,

Give the tag a name then slide over to the value and click on the icon there to open the expression dialog, drill down to your OD field and select it.

Set any other options like layer text size etc. (TEXT SIZE will need to be increased)

I use 0,0 as the insertion point, after you pick the insertion point zoom extents.

Close the block editor and save the anno template.Close the other dialog

Then use the command  _mapanninsert and select the template you created, then pick the objects you want to lable.

You may need to zoom in or out depending on the text size you set in the template.

If you need to edit or adjust the text use the _mapanntemplate command and select the template then

edit contents chsngr whst you need then save and use command: _mapannrefresh and select FullAnnonation.

I thought Murph might come to your rescue. I've been so busy here that It's been a long time since I've done anything serious in map.

I quit using FDO for reasons like this. I just do a MAPIMPORT for almost everything anymore. FDO sounds nice, but it just doesn't work very well.
