F/L elevations

If I want a band of flow line elevations in a profile for a pipe run and want them at minor stations ie: every fifty feet is the only way to do that to create a seperate profile object for the flow line of the pipe and treat it as profile data or can you pull that information out of the pipe data. If so I have not found where. The only flow line (invert) elevation option I've found is for the start and end of a pipe.

Are you using 2007? A band is a available for pipe data. You can find a sample of it in the NCS template that ships with the project.

I'm using 2007 and I checked the band style in the NCS (basic) for pipe data but the only options for data fields to label is at the start and end of the pipe section which will work if I draw the pipe sections in at 50' pieces or at whatever intervals I want elevations. I think it would be easier just to draw a profile by layout since it is tied to an alignment and I can place elevations at minor stations in the band that way. Although that would defeat alot of the purposes of having the pipe object.

Sorry, didn't look close enough, I think your method would be a good way to go.

You're on the right track, Tom. James Wedding wrote this up many moons ago, back in the 2006 release days, and while there's been a bit written since on various blogs and in this DG, his write-up still covers the basics. (http://www.civil3d.com/index.php/2006/07/labeling-pipe-invert-elevations-in-a-profile-view/)

Here's hoping we get what we need in the 2008 release.

Thanks for the info. At least I know I'm on the same page as everyone else. It seems like all the program needs is an option for "pipe invert elev at minor stations" in the label configure dialog or a pipe network profile created along with the network. I hope the programers don't figure the second out. that would just add another c3d object and then just more styles. I think we have enough styles to setup

You know, I don't think I wrote that one, it's just a convert post from one
of our older blogs. I'll give the credit to Jason, I think it's his. Maybe
we'll fix it, but thanks for the link, Trevor!

Yeah, I wondered about that; I'd always thought it was one of Dana's until I relocated the post and it had your name at the top. I'm pretty sure Dana posted one similar on civil3drocks, but I couldn't find it.

No worries for the link. IMO, when it comes to services rendered, I'm still way behind: I'm sifting through that website of yours frequently. Keep it up, and thanks!

Trevor
