I am having a problem while trying to exaggerate the elevations of my contours. When I edit my surface style under the contours tab, 3d Geometry, and select "Exaggerate Elevations" and use "3" for example and apply the changes nothing happens. I can exaggerate my triangles with no issues but I can't exaggerate my contours to match.
Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Mark

On the Display tab of Style Editor, are you sure Contours are on for Model view, not just Plan view?
contours when exaggerated vertically do not look any different from a top down view. The only way you can see that the contours have been successfully exaggerated is to switch to a 3d model view and see if they lie on top of the 3d triangles.
the software works, you just have to know what your looking at.
Just looked at this... In the surface style go to the Contours tab and under 3D Geometry use the same Exaggerate Elevation factor that you used for triangles.

Hi Peter,
I am setting the exaggerate factor in two tabs, "triangles" and "contours" like you say. The triangles will exaggerate as expected but the contours remain at surface elevation. Also nothing happens when I use the flatten to elevation command.
And of course I am looking at this in a perspective view...
I opened the same drawing on a different computer and everything worked as expected. Is there some computer specific variable I might have set wrong?
This is the second strange issue I am having that is specific to this computer, the other deals with material section hatching.

I'd suggest you post the computer specs. Especially the video card.

I don't see the video card on the Certified Hardware list. Does the computers that display things correctly have a certified card? I'm not saying that's the answer. But it's my first guess.

I finally figured this out. It will not draw the contours at an exaggerated elevation when you are using contour smoothing! Turn off contour smoothing and everything works okay.
I guess I just needed to forget about it for a while and then look with fresh eyes.
