_AeccCreateSurface is the command that needs to run to be able to create a surface.

After you click the create surface button, a seperate popup box should show up. If you are not seeing that, chance is, that it is opening up somewhere offscreen

If the dialog is not created off screen as already suggested and if you see _AeccCreateSurface hit enter and program should create blank surface for you. Check your Prospector tab and under surfaces node see if you have blank surface created. Do you see Surface1 created?

I'm having the exact same problem, using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010; however a blank surface does not show up in my prospector as indicated.

When I click on Create Surface from the Create Ground Data Menu it lists "_AeccCreateSurface" in the command line.  No dialog box pops up and when i press enter as suggested, Civil 3D repeats the last command that was initialized, for example "Options" or "copy". Furthermore, other Civil 3D commands such as create alignment, create points, do not work.

I've tried repairing Civil 3d and reinstalling the program as this seemed like a flaw to me, but to no avail.  Am I missing something simple?

Thanks in advance.
