Drawing numbering convention

I know this may be off topic but who better to ask than a bunch of civil's.

I have a user that is on a 4 sheet site plans set and is opting to prefix his sheet numbers with C-. I have n issue with that, but he is also forcing the numbers into the hundreds with C-100 for sheet 1. In and of itself I wouldn't be too bothered by it except he is insisting on sheets 2-4 to C-200, C-300, C-400.

My biggest issue is this is making some inconveniences with SSM.

My second issue is why use 5 character for a single digit.

My last peeve is if I see drawing C-100 my minds eye is looking for C-101 through C-199 and so on. Also if your using C- for the civil drawing would that preclude the need for C-200 - C-400?

Any opinion?

Thank you

I have never heard, nor seen anyone using that numbering convention.  Typically it's C-1, C-2, or C1, C2....

Sounds like they are using something similar to the National Cad Standard (NCS) sheet numbering.  We run into it all the time.  SSM should handle the numbering fine, you just might have to adjust your border/titleblock to accomodate the longer sheet names.

Joe,

In Indiana I have seen the C-100 system, but it was seperated by Subsets. For example

Plan and Profiles might be C-100 - C-105 and the construction details were C-200 - C-205. Each Type of drawings were in a different Hundreds Range.

Thanks,
Dave

Except when the set also require # of <total> you would need a custom drawing number field that has to be added by going to prperties of each sheet.

Your link was very illustrative of the situation and could not overlook the obvious example is and archtectural set

I scanned two sheets from DPW Indianapolis Cadd Standards for you to take a look at.

Thank you for the sample. the schemes are very reasonable and I recognize them as well. I still believe that system is devised for the posibilty of 3 digit quantity of sheets and think its overkill for a 4 sheet set
