Digitize Contours

Other than RasterDesign, are there any good tools out there that will take 2D polylines and convert them to polylines with an elevation.

is there any map object data attached to the polylines? or a piece of text

no Map data, yes to a piece of text nearby

Construction company gets PDF files and would like to digitize to Civil 3D.
I found a tool, that will convery PDF to DXF.
now I need to tag the contours with elevations soI can create a surface.

If a tool, does not exists than I may have to write an application, but wanted to ensure that there wasn't already an eaiser method.

thanks for your response.

Take a look at http://www.TopoGX.com

Its main party piece is to convert 2D DXF drawings into 3D by reading
the DXF Text entities near insertion points and assigning them to the
correct object.

Try the demo version to see if its what you need. Its only limitation is
not being able to save or print, but will convert, triangulate, contour
and show in real-time 3D without a license.

Hope this helps
Dave

Hey Murph, thanks, just what I was looking for.

Ah!!!! the power of LISP, I miss the good old days.
Thanks for the program, a simple but yet brilliant program. Especially the selection by fence.

There was an error in the file, It had an "=" sign in the code that did not belong. At least I think it didn't.
I removed it, as well as added code to change the colour of the plines that have had the elevation changed.
attached is the updated file.

once again thanks.

Also thanks to Dave for your suggestion on TopoGX, great program, but it does more than what we need.

No need to thank me, it was a desker that everyone complains about that
wrote and posted it. The "=" might of got added as I reviewer it prior to
posting it, this wireless keyboard does weird stuff at times.

Sounds like you modified it to add one of the extra features found in this (also FREE):

There is also a tool built in to the UKIE content pack that does this.....which looks supiciously like the chelev.lsp posted originally.....

neilyj (No connection with Autodesk other than using the products in the real world)

not what i was hoping for.

digitizer setup works fine but

digitizing a contour and labeling it with an elevation and existing or proposed layer

i know carlson, agtech and paydirt do this but are quite expensine
